Missoula Updates

We have been on the go and that's why I've been neglecting the blog, sorry! I'm also off to a funeral in South Dakota so it's going to continue to be quiet around here.

We were in Missoula last weekend and I have some dairy free information for Biga Pizza. They do not have dairy free cheese available but they welcome people bringing in their own cheese and they will put it on the pizza for you. That or you can go cheeseless like we did and the pizza was still good.

I also saw some new items at The Good Food Store including New Grist and Bard's beer. Nice to see they are carrying Bard's again. They also have packaged wheat free items from their bakery, banana bread, brownies, cookies, etc. I get nervous when I see wheat free and not gluten free but the ingredients list was gluten free so we tried their apple bread and it was pretty good. Not all of the items are dairy free but some were GF/DF so be sure to read the label before you buy.

Vera Fare Seize the Deal

If you live in the Bozeman area and want to try out Vera Fare, Bozeman's very own gluten free cafe, they are todays deal on Seize the Deal. Pay $5 for $10 of dining at Vera Fare.

Seize the Deal works by offering great discounts at local businesses but the catch is a certain number of people have to seize the deal in order for it to go through for everyone. So if the number is met everyone gets a deal if not then the deal goes away and you aren't charged for anything.

For this deal the deal has been seized, 86 bought when I bought mine, wow!

Bacon Wrapped Dates - Naturally Gluten Free

Need a quick appetizer that is a big hit? Bacon wrapped dates are a delicious answer. They don't take much time to whip together and they bring a fanatstic sweet and salty combination to your tongue. I never knew this sweet treat existed until we went to Over The Tapas and after falling in love with them there I had to give it a try. I love that most people have never had these before but once they try them it's hard to stop.

Bacon Wrapped Dates

1 package pitted dates
1.5 packages bacon, thinner is better here
Toothpicks (optional)

Preheat oven to 400 F. Cut the bacon in thirds and wrap one piece around each date. You can either spear it with a toothpick or just place it seam down on a cookie sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the bacon is cooked.

You can find dates in the grocery aisle that has raisins and other dried fruit. This brand was tasty.

This is the bacon I use, it's thin so it's perfect for these. I get this at Lee & Dad's in the frozen section near the other GF and natural products.

New Grist Gluten Free Beer - Found it!

I wanted to do a quick post that I found the New Grist gluten free beer on the shelf at Lee & Dad's IGA. If you're in need of a beer fix for this beautiful Labor Day Weekend swing by to pick up a sixer.

New Grist Beer in Bozeman

My sister in law said she had found New Grist gluten free beer at the Bozeman Co-op so I had to swing by yesterday. I found where it belonged on the shelf but they were out of stock, bummer! If you haven't tried this beer give it a go. It's a bit more hoppy than the other GF beers available and nice to have more selection! I did walk of there with some Ian's products I've been looking for for months so there will be a review soon.

If you want to get some of the Betty Crocker GF mixes with a discount here are two coupon links.

The first is through General Mills directly.
The second coupon is through coupons dot com and on the 8th page.

Thanks Sarah for sharing this with me!
